My song “CALLEJERA” came to me at 3am, while I was having trouble sleeping. It was pulsing at the surface of my consciousness, screaming to be let out. The piano riff played in my head followed by the melody, in 4 syllables. Ca-lle-je-ra: a woman who seeks adventure, the road, and living on the edge! A word that men had claimed to shame women who aren’t traditional or “settled down.” The double-standard value etched in our machismo Hispanic culture marked with this negative connotation. Well, don’t bother convincing a “Callejera” to stop living the way she wants. You can’t stop my cravings for open road, the unknown, and never being able to stay put. A burning desire to truly live for yourself. This is also what my family calls my grandma Beba. She’s adaptive, a survivor, and always on the move. Must be where I get it from! This song is nothing like anything I’ve written or produced before. It’s a playful (danceable) approach to feminism. It’s about women defying expectations to meet societal norms like settling down, pregnancy and raising kids, and living their life for their family. Instead, a ‘Callejera’ prioritizes her dreams and chooses the life she wants. Intended to be enjoyed by all walks of life, languages, and backgrounds. It’s coming in hot, just in time for summer for you free-spirited, travel lovers out there. Available on all streaming platforms July 16th, 2021.

Mi canción "CALLEJERA" me llegó a las 3 am hace unas semanas, mientras tenía problemas para dormir. El riff de piano sonaba en mi cabeza seguido de la melodía, en 4 sílabas. Y luego BAM! Ca-lle-je-ra: una mujer que busca la aventura, el camino y vivir al límite. Este soy yo. Mis ansias por el camino abierto, lo desconocido, y nunca poder quedarme quieta. Un ardiente deseo de vivir verdaderamente. Esto también es lo que mi familia llama mi abuela Beba. Ella es la aventurera de la familia. Debe ser de donde lo obtengo! Esta canción no se parece a nada de lo que he escrito o producido antes. Es un enfoque lúdico (bailable) del feminismo. Se trata de mujeres que desafían las expectativas de cumplir con las normas sociales, como establecerse, criar hijos y vivir la vida por su familia. En cambio, una "Callejera" vive su vida por sí misma y decide el futuro que quiere. Destinado a ser disfrutado por todos los ámbitos de la vida, idiomas y antecedentes.
